She leans into him. I hear the front door and she jumps in surprise. I put my hand on her head and she looks at me and relaxes again.

She lays her head back down as my parents come upstairs. My foster mom looks in and smiles, "hey sorry we weren't here earlier. Had something important come up. It's good to see you again John." She was a considerably younger woman, she wasn't much older than me so it was obvious that we weren't mother and daughter. I'm not even sure why she's in the fostering system, not that she's bad or anything but she never seems really interested. She's too teenage girl for this. She left the room quietly without waiting for a response.

"Yeah, foster parents haven't changed much. They said they're the only ones left in this area though so I'm here until I graduate, unless someone new comes in," I said.

"The state would never allow me to stay with you. Your parents have to adopt me and I know they probably would but I don't want them to if we want to be together. Even if we can't be fully together until you learn to fully control yourself. But I'm here to help with that in any way," I said.

"The biggest reason i left is bc my parents died....when my powers formed they both died partially bc of me." i said softly looking down "so iv been fighting on my own since i left and got an apartment of my own as well as a job
